After studying medicine in Graz, I spent a year (1988-1989) doing infectious disease research at the University of California San Diego, USA.

The subsequent basic military service was characterised by emergency medical training and activities.

After internships in Graz, Deutschlandsberg, Leoben and Stolzalpe, I completed my specialist training (1993-1998) at the University Clinic for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in Graz, specialising in infectious diseases (including stays and seminars abroad in Germany, Sweden, England, France and the USA).

From 1998 to 2006 I worked as a senior physician at the Department of Paediatric Haemato-Oncology, as a hygiene officer at the Children's Hospital and as an infectiologist for the entire Children's Centre.

I acquired additional training in parasitology and tropical medicine, as a clinical investigator of drugs and the ECFMG certificate, which entitles me to practise medicine in the USA.

During this time, a book on "Antibiotic Therapy in Childhood", book contributions and numerous publications were written.

In addition to lectures and further training for doctors and pharmacists, I have been giving a student lecture on "Infectious Diseases and Vaccinations in Childhood" at the Medical University of Graz since 2004.

In October 2006, mainly for family reasons, I changed from hospital to private practice, and 3 years later I qualified as a private lecturer in paediatrics and adolescent medicine.

In addition to my practice, I am entrusted with tasks within the framework of the Society for Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, the Austrian Medical Association and international specialist societies, with the aim of improving medical care for our children and adolescents.
